Winchester City Council Budget 2025/26

Closes 31 Oct 2024

Opened 10 Oct 2024

Overview

Each year, councils must publish a budget to show how they will fund the services they provide or activities they support.

In February 2024, council approved a budget for 2024/2025 - it predicted a balanced and stable budget for the next two years.

However, based on current assumptions, it is estimated there will be a funding gap of just under £3million in 2027/2028.

The city council is not alone in this. It's a really challenging time for local government at the moment and there is particular uncertainty about future funding.

In November 2023, we made a commitment to reviewing the way we work, exploring how technology available to us can make us more efficient and at the same time, improve online services for our customers, while identifying saving opportunities.

This budget has been developed with these challenges in mind and we'd like your view on our budget proposals for 2025/2026.
