Overview
Local Authorities are required by Central Government to assess the accommodation requirements of Gypsies and Travellers and to develop a strategy that addresses any unmet need.
Winchester City Council is consulting on its Traveller Development Plan Document (Traveller DPD). The Traveller DPD safeguards and allocates sites to meet identified traveller accommodation needs for the District, outside of the South Downs National Park. This stage of the preparation of the DPD focusses on specific ‘tests’ that the local authority must meet to ensure that the document can be found ‘sound’ by a planning inspector in due course.
