Winchester City Council Call For Sites 2021

Overview

Winchester City Council has launched its new Local Plan which will set the framework for future planning decisions in the District to 2038. As part of this process we are undertaking a new “Call for Sites” to help to identify land that could help to deliver a variety of accommodation and community needs. We are therefore asking landowners / site promotors to come forward if they have sites that they consider could form part of a new local plan.

If your site has already been submitted and is included in the 2020 published list of SHELAA sites then you do not need to resubmit it again. If you wish to inform us of any progress made in bringing your site forward for development then please let us know by way of an e mail to planningpolicy@winchester.gov.uk.

Please note that this “Call for Sites” will only cover the part of the district which is OUTSIDE the South Downs National Park. The South Downs National Park produces their own “Call for Sites” is available to view on their website.

This “Call for Sites” is different from previous ones, click here for further information. In that we are asking for a much wider range of sites with the potential for;

• Homes including small sites, self and custom build, gypsy, traveller and travelling showpersons
• Employment land
• Biodiversity Net Gain and Offsetting
• Green Infrastructure
• Carbon Offsetting
• Nitrogen Offsetting
• Renewable Energy
• Brownfield Land

This is a routine update to our SHELAA and is not related to any proposed changes to the planning system. The SHELAA helps assess the development potential of sites across the District outside the South Downs National Park.

It should be noted that inclusion in the SHELAA via the “Call for Sites” does not give any planning status and does not allocated sites or imply that the council will necessarily grant planning permission.

This call for sites will run between 15^th February and 23:59 on 12^th April 2021.
