Overview

Thurmond Crescent play area is located in the centre of the Stanmore housing estate and is an important area of open space, highly valued by local residents.  It provides a place to play close to home and overlooked by properties on the opposite side of road which curves around the open space.

The existing play area has equipment for toddler and junior age groups but the multiplay unit for the younger age group has already had to be removed as it was at the end of its life.  The site is terraced with junior equipment at the top and toddler equipment on the lower level.  The junior equipment will remain as it is now with the cradle swings, large multiplay unit and spinning pole remaining on site.

All toddler equipment including cradle swings, train play panel, springy horse, springy seesaw and roundabout will be removed and new equipment installed.

Local residents are invited to vote for the new equipment that will be installed on this site. The design with the highest number of votes will win! It is hoped that the new equipment will installed early 2021.

The winning design will be shown on our website at www.winchester.gov.uk/thurmond-crescent and details of the programme for construction will be updated here when available.
