Overview

As part of our Estate Improvement Programme, Winchester City Council is consulting with residents on options to provide additional communal parking.

Why We Are Consulting

Following the recent Consultation events held regarding the proposal to construct 5 new homes in Bostock Close, resident’s feedback included requests to review the current communal parking arrangements.

The main issues appear to be:

  • residents regularly park on the green area around the play area in Woodman Close
  • if the above development goes ahead, then existing on-street parking will no longer be available in Bostock Close

Based on this information we have drawn up plans providing different options for how we can overcome these issues.  Our proposals provide additional parking around the play area on the green while still maintaining the character of the Close, and also creating additional parking in the Stockwell Place car park.

Woodman Close

Option 1 - provides a total of 29 (end-on) parking bays on the green. (This option gives an indication of the maximum number of parking bays that can be gained from creating end-on parking).

Option 2 - provides a total of 15 (layby) parking bays on the green.  (This option gives an indication of what can be achieved by creating some extra parking bays, whilst still maintaining the rural character of the Close).

Stockwell Place - includes refreshing of the white lining of the existing bays and provides an additional 7 new bays.
