We asked

The take up for tenant training has reduced over the years it has been offered. Winchester City Council’s Tenant Involvement Officers wanted to get the views of tenants as to what they want to see on the training programme and what would be useful to them?

Looking at the list of possible training topics given as examples the top three of interest are;

Essential First Aid

Defib Awareness

Basic Repairs – what is WCC responsible for? What could you carry out yourself? Basic DIY tips.

All three scored over 30% in both ‘Really interested and would like to attend’ and ‘interested to know more’.

The next most popular topics are;

Healthy Living

Mindfulness (paying more attention to the present moment – to your own thoughts and feelings, and to the world around you)

Crafting – Learning some upcycling skills.

All scoring 20% in ‘Really interested and would like to attend’ and over 30% in ‘interested to know more’.

When asked if there are any other ideas for training tenants would like to see there were 24 free text responses around the subject of IT and Computing.

We did

This survey was the starting point for Tenant Involvement to work on a new tenant training programme. We have listened to your views and have been working to put together a new programme. However, due to the current restrictions in place to help combat the spread of the Coronavirus this programme has had to be postponed. Please keep an eye out in the future for the updated programme.

Other online training opportunities are also being looked into. Keep an eye out for the upcoming Tenant Training Programme for all the information.

Overview

As a tenant you can take part in any of the training opportunities offered to all tenants by Winchester City Council Housing.

Why your views matter

The take up for tenant training has reduced over the years it has been offered. We would like to get the views of tenants as to what you want to see on the training programme and what would be useful to you?

We would really appreciate your feedback to the following questions. This will help give us a balanced picture of the current offering and also to help shape any future training offered. There are no more than 15, mainly multiple choice questions, and it shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to complete.

Please give us your views by completing the online survey below by Friday 6th December 2019.

As a thank you for taking part in this survey, we would like to offer a randomly selected Winchester City Council tenant a £50 ‘Love2Shop’ shopping voucher for participating & submitting their details. You will also be in with a chance of winning the annual draw of a prize up to £200.

More details about the prize draws and Terms and Conditions can be found on the Winchester City Council Tenant Involvement Page.
