Overview

As part of our Estate Improvement Programme, Winchester City Council are consulting with residents on a proposal to carry out improvements to the open space for the community.   

 

 

Why your views matter

This area was used during the lockdown period by local residents who have approached us to look at enhancing the area for all local residents to use and enjoy. This could be for relaxing, encourage wildlife, meeting neighbours or an area for children to play.

The local residents have spoken to neighbours seeking opinions on how the area could be improved. The response were very positive and the residents produced a plan of the area and put all the ideas as shown on the attached map.

Current Ideas:

  • Seating area
  • Small orchard
  • Raised beds for growing vegetables
  • Keep enough grass for children to play
  • Wildflower area
  • Habitat for wildlife i.e. slow worms, butterflies, bees etc

Before any improvements are considered we want to carry out a wider consultation with local residents to seek your views and what you would like to see at the site.

We will be holding an informal street meet at the site on Tuesday 27 June at 14:15 (see map below).

Please come along to talk to both local residents who initiated the proposals, Councillors and Officers with your ideas and thoughts on this amenity area.

What happens next

The consultation closes on Wednesday 12 July 23.   All responses will be reviewed and a proposal agreed.

If we do not hear from you by this date we will assume that you are happy with the proposals.  

We will contact residents informing them of an approved plan, in due course. 

At this stage, we are unable to specify exactly when this work will take place, but we will keep you informed
